In this webinar, the importance of the accurate and timely identification of total bilirubin levels will be discussed. The different analytical methods used to measure total bilirubin levels and interferences/ limitations of these methods will also be discussed.

This lecture will review the types of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) currently available in the US and instances where ECMO may be applied. We will review the role of the Respiratory Therapist during ECMO and the importance of understanding the role of the other ECMO team members (i.e. physician, perfusionist, nurse). This lecture will also cover the pros and cons of ECMO, ventilator management strategies during ECMO and review of the medical literature.
