ICON strives to unite knowledge through technology and improve clinician’s access to clinical experts and continuing education. Therefore, ICON voluntarily sought accreditation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation in February, 2008. On May 12, 2008, the ANCC’s Commission on Accreditation awarded a certificate of accreditation to ICON as a Provider of continuing nursing education from May 12, 2008 through August 31, 2010. ICON is continually reviewed by experts in continuing nursing education to ensure we comply with current educational and nursing standards. ICON provides superior continuing nursing education using the latest educational technology and knowledge.
Through ICON’s Customer Care Packages, customers gain access to the interactive member’s only section of the ICON website. Web services include various forms of education and training all of which are geared to support bedside clinicians. Member-directed continuing education contains self-paced, narrated flash presentations covering various ICU topics, CRRT therapies, adjuncts to therapy and clinical concepts surrounding CRRT. After participants view the presentations, they are required to take a knowledge validation exam. On successful completion of the exam and submission of a program evaluation to provide ICON feedback, the participants can print out a certificate documenting continuing education contact hours.
Additional web services include a global forum (blog) to exchange conversation and ideas on current therapies and trends, an electronic library with up-to-date clinical documents, an image gallery, medical device simulators, protocols and competencies and case studies.
