Las Vegas, Nevada April 15-19, 2002 ICON in partnership with Drager Medical has developed the technology to remotely observe up to 34 parameters from Drager ventilators. Through utilization of a web-based technology that does not require point-to-point dedicated lines, implementation is seamless. With this remote technology, physicians, respiratory therapists and other critical care practitioners can monitor patients on ventilators from anywhere in the world, 24x7. In addition, automated data acquisition, monitoring and reporting can be achieved. The national shortage of critical care providers coupled with the increase in patient population over a wide geographic range creates the need for extending the reach of the critical care provider. The symposium included over 250 attendees from diverse fields of surgery to include: cardiothoracic surgery, critical care and trauma surgery. ICON demonstrated real-time, remote wave-form and numeric data acquisition with exclusive remote monitoring software. Dr. Raymond Fang, USAF Major, MC Staff, Surgery and Critical Care, indicated: "This technology is an exciting new development in critical care. It will help to provide state-of-the-art ventilator management to patients located in remote settings and during evacuation to higher echelons of care."
